Which Digital Media Card?

Sand Disk 1GB Extreme 111 Compact Flash Memory Card or the Sand Disk 1GB XD type H memory card? Is there a quality difference? Preformance Difference? Any reccomendations? Both cards are for the Fuji S9000 digital camera.

Hi - I hesitate to make a recommendation since I am anything but an expert; however, I did some research recently and discovered a couple of things: first, unless you need the speed of the Extreme III (sports and wildlife photography come to mind) you can go cheaper for the SanDisk II or the H. Second: I recently bought a Kingston Pro Flash Card that was much cheaper than the SanDisk III, yet just as fast. I do a lot of wildlife photography and wanted speed. The Kingston Pro retails for around $135 for the 4GB while the SanDisk Extreme III 4 GB retails for around $200 - big difference. I do not notice any speed difference. The other piece of info that I learned is that unless your camera can actually utilize the higher speed capacity of a card you are simply wasting your money. You might want to check and verify the bursts/second for your camera before you invest in the higher speed card. As far as I could research, under normal shooting conditions the life and reliability of cards from the major suppliers do not vary substantially. In very cold or very hot conditions the SanDisk Extreme III does outperform many other cards. Anyway, this is what I learned when doing similar research, hope it helps you.
