Inspiring children's portrait galleries on BP? I'm a newbie on this site but have been interested in developing my skills at photographing kids (my own especially!!). I know the basics but I'm looking for examples of really good and inspiring galleries of kids portraits of BP members. I see a few great portraits in the People category but I'm sure you old-timers know the best galleries already! :-) Please recommend your favorites that you always look at and have inspired you as I'm sure most will be too modest to blow their own trumpet. I'm so glad I discovered this site the only problem is it shows me how far I have to go...

Hi Bernie, and welcome. I'm still new here too, but love reading the posts of others. Just jump in and start reading posts on portraiture that is on this site. Also I have found that if you click on people's galleries, who have posted responses, you'll be opened up to a whole new world, and all of the talent on here. I've also signed up for the photo of the day, and enjoy looking at the artist's gallery that way. This hasn't been a direct response per say, but you never know what you'll find in other's galleries. Thanks Jessica, believe me I've been doing a lot of looking!! there's just so many galleries, was wondering if anyone had any specific suggestions for good galleries. For example I was looking through today's entries and Kim P has a superb kids gallery. thanks for responding!! :-)

Bernie, if you spend some time looking through the contest entries for the people category you'll get to know the good kids photgraphers. Also looking at past finalists can be helpful. There are lots of great ones out there, Kim P included. Some specialize in natural light portraiture and some studio. I'll start you off with a few names- Tiffani La Neave, Jessica Hughes, CJ Patterson, Dale Ann Cubbage, Teresa Lee, Jennifer Short, Amanda Price, Kathy Wolfe, Nadia Smith, Megan Peck, Kimberly Whipps, Alisha Ekstrom. Hope this will do for starters. The list could go on but you know it's also down to personal taste. you may like the style of one photographer over another so you're best just spending time looking and even bookmarking galleries and checking in on them every so often.

Kerby, you have a beautiful daughter, some great photos of her! she will treasure those photos... Jane, thanks so much for the list. You should have included yourself on the list, your gallery is AWESOME! I especially like "the secret place" it is so moving but all your photos have such emotion and expression.

Hi Bernie, Keshia is not my daughter. Her mom and I have been close friends for many years. I had the privilege of photographing Keshia for over a year and half and it helped me so much with my child/people photography. It been a huge gift for me to learn and grow. Kerby

I hope there will be more and can't wait to see ones for other categories. I thought it was great getting the photographers insight for each shot. Obviously it's more work for the busy folks who run BP but I for one would appreciate it!
