How to shoot computer monitors? I have a shoot coming up in a dental office and they are attaching a new computer monitor system to the exam chairs. They definitly want to showcase this new system in the photos or at least see them in the background. What is the correct shutter speed to perfectly see the computer monitors screen? I seem to remember hearing 1/30 of a second. Is that right? Also, is it the same for television screens? Thank you in advance for any any input! Kevin

Okay. First of all, it makes a difference if you are using an LCD flat screen or a CRT monitor. What kind of screen do you use? How's the lighting in the office? Generally, the slower the shutter speed, the better the screen will look, since some screens shows the light in kind of flashes the eye can't detect. You should certainly use a tripod for steady shots, and use a low ISO. Try to make the computers look nice by having a clean environment and by using the rule of thirds, and experiment with perspective. You may want to use a florescent filter, too, or work with the white balance, depending on the lighting. Ariel
