Using Photoshop Elements 2.0

Looking for step by step procedures for lightening a slight underexposure using Photoshop Elements 2.0. When using the EnhanceAdjust-Brightness/Contract and move the Brightness/Contrast slider to the right, the colors distort. Thanks.

ralph, I use elements 3, so I hope this works in version 2 as well. Insert a duplicate layer. Under the layers pallate, drop down the menu and select "screen." Use the opacity slider to reduce the amount until you are hapy with the results, then flatten the layers.

Ralph, in addition to above, before you flatten the image, you may use the eraser tool to selectively erase portion of the image that were properly exposed and that are now too light. This is difficult in a complex image, but fairly simple if there is a distinct deliniation between light and dark; i.e. sky and land. Hope this helps.
