Photography Question

Kimberly E. Hosey

Best advanced P&S or SLR for macros?

I have a Sony DSC-H2, and using it I've gotten gung-ho into photographing just about everything (check out www.geocities.com/khosey1 for a ton of pictures, mostly of nature and my son). But now I find I want to adjust the settings to a higher f value (smaller aperture) and a few other things, and I'm not sure the H2 has all the features I'm going to want for continuing in learning nature macros (bugs, flowes, etc.) I really do like the long (12x optical) zoom though, and I already have a closeup lens and teleconverter for this one and don't want to waste my money (of which I have a limited supply, unfortunately). So my question is, should I "upgrade" to the Sony DSC H5, or is there another that would take the 58 mm lenses and be better for what I want to do? Or, should I break down and get an SLR, and if I do what's good to start with? Oh, lastly, do you know, if I do want to go with an SLR, of anywhere to sell my lenses? Do any camera shops let you "trade up" if the equipment's in perfect condition?

Sorry, more than a few questions. But I have a little money to play with and want to maximize what I'm getting, so I can do a lot with it and grow into it and keep taking better images. Biggies -- zoom, sharp images, macro ability.

Thanks!
