digital camera or lighting systerm? I own a point & shoot digital camera and I have (2)SLR film camera that is tht Nikon F90 & F100 but I don,t have a very good lighting systerm. I'm thinking weather to buy the new nikon D200 or a brand new studio lighting systerm. I really don't have the cash to buy both. What do you guys think?

Well, since nobody else has given you an answer to this question, I'll put in my 2 cents worth (which is about all it is worth). If you plan to do studio work (which I see from your bio that you do), I would opt for the lighting system. After all, you have two perfectly good cameras already.

I would go with the d200 and instead of buying a strobe set up buy a much cheaper hot light set up. with the d200 you can set you white balance and iso settings and get the same look you would with with a very expsensive strobe set up,and the d200 is dam near as good as medium format.

hey nadil one more thing if you go with hot light use the twistie florecent bulds and not photo floods. the florecent bulb will give you a very soft light and they last very long and are a more enviromentally friendly light bulb. good luck and I hope this has helped you jaw

I do agree with Kerry, If you have a Plan and direction for your craft- follow that. there are always new and better toys. Aquire the tools to start you towards your goal then upgrade your tools. If you go back to the Studio Photography threads, you will see how many struggle with "hot lights" and I would recommend strobes. here is the link: http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/QnAdetail.php?threadID=17534 if I can help you at all, please feel free to contact me, Debby
