reposting this in digital, studio light selection? Hello everybody, I also have this in "further resources" but decided to put it here since it would probably get more views...
I'll supply a(n) url to a screen shot of a shopping cart I put together but before that, I have made some changes that aren't on this screen shots. I decided to ditch the travel case for the two carrying cases that carry a single light since I have some other stuff that I can use, plus instead of two B400 (400w/s) strobes, I put two B800's. I think that should be all, though I may have also added some warming filters and a 10% or 20% grid. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v417/laverghetta/?action=view¤t=Alienbeesorder.jpg WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR I'm looking for a versatile setup with many options that can do many different things while looking decently pro. I'm looking at different things like the color gels/filters for effects when the sun is going down (location) and when in studio or if I ever shoot anything else at night and need some kind of a rim light. What I'm looking for is to control a light with different options, I'd like to be able to have a background light that's decently focused but can also be used as a hair light so I'm looking at different honeycomb grids. I'm also hoping to get some good portrait/glamour/beauty style stuff and I've seen the beautydish used in videos and it looks great, plus I'm used to using a very large softbox at my school's light studio so I'm adding the giant softbox. What do you think? I'm seeing if I can get it narrowed down some, but I dont' want to sacrifice ideas that I may have, or have to make/rig up something that doesn't look at least a little bit pro. If you've got questions for anything that I have on there or you'd like me to be more specific in an area, just ask and I'll do my best but I just tried to give a brief rundown on what I was thinking. These are some of the pics that I'm looking to imitate for a little white before exploring on my own...plus I have some of my stuff at www.myspace.com/andylav (I especially like the photo with the gray background)... http://myspace-060.vo.llnwd.net/00298/06/08/298348060_l.jpg -can't find the other example but- I'd like to be able to do mock cover shots for different beauty magazines and then there are shots where a model has good light at the front of say, a thigh or arm, and it falls off as the skin wraps around her. Kind of hard to explain but I hope you can understand my babble, haha. Thanks so much!
