Beach Portraits

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on beach portraits... we are leaving in a week to go to Hilton Head and I would love to be able to take some good ones of the kids and families going with us! Thanks so much!

Just be certain that you always have a camera in your hands so the kids "take it for granted." You're probably not going to be able to pose anything, so take what you get.

Use fast ISO film or set your digital to at least ISO 400. I'd paln for using shutter priority, especially if the kids are going to playing in the pool/surf. Do take a polarizing filter and use it in the early mornning or late afternoon for maximum polarization. In mid-day it'll help you get better skies and do some reduction of reflections in water. It will also serve as a neutral density filter, allowing you to better control the exposure.
