Photography Organization Has anyone heard of Photography Laureates?I saw it on this site and was wondering if anyone ever won anything for their photograph? I never send in money, so don't worry. I just was wondering if the publishing of your photo was any thing to talk about to family and friends. It sounds like picture.com, which they too has said to publish a photo in the book I'm not buying. I wrote to themand told them If I won send me the book free. One representative @ Laureates said he'll see what he can do because I asked for a tear sheet. I won't hold my breathe, just wondering if anyone else got this and why is it posted on the site.

Hello Jyan, I have also been told one of my photos is being published. The whole site seems a little fishy. If you go into the photo community it looks as though everyone listed is having their work published (30,000 people in 375 pages?). The thing is many people believe it is a scam. If you google the 2 editors you will find little on them, especially their photos. I suggest going to istockphoto.com and search the blogs/forums for $6500 Photo Contest.

I got the same message, and was wondering about the site. I also just got another email from them saying I was selected as 1 of 50 members of the month for Septmeber. They were trying to get me to buy the book again. I haven't been able to find too much more info. about the phot contest being legit. Keep us updated if the rep at Laureates gets back to you.

It's a scam - just like picture.com and circleofphotographers.com. If you win, you don't have to pay anything to get the alleged book. It's also free to enter. The thing is, you will probably get up to finalist, but then you will have to pay to be able to win in the final round. Ariel
