  Hi Robert,
I live in Louisiana,A good friend of mine has the D-70. She has not had a problem with hers. The D-70 is a great camera.
Welcome to Louisiana.

  Robert,
Can I assume you'll be coming to the New Orleans Area? It's really amazing how much help we have gotten here from all the various religious and volunteer groups.

On behalf of my city, thanks in advance!

Click my Contact button if you want to email me direct, or get my cell number. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the area, where to find things, etc.

As for the heat & humidity, yep, we've got lots of that! I don't typically take any special precautions, other than always having a clean dry lens cloth handy.

The problem you'll have is when you bring your camera from a cold area, like an air-conditioned building or car, to the hot & humid outdoors. During the transition period when the surface temperature of your camera is warming up to the air temp outdoors, you can get condensation on your lens.

A few things you can do to minimize this: When you go outside, open your camera bag, but don't take your camera out right away. Let it adjust to the temp slowly. Don't remove the lens cap or change lenses right away either.

If I'm going to be driving around to different locations to shoot, I'll sacrifice my personal comfort a little, and open the sunroof & windows so the camera won't get so cold while it's in the car.

There was a thread about this a while back with some other good suggestions. I'll try to find it.

Hello Chris, Thanks for the comments, I have just read your comment. We ended up in Franklinton, LA. We did various job around the town from putting up a garage, drywall. The most memorable place we helped at was this lady named Dora. She is wheelchair bound but she has more than anyone of else that was there helping despite her problems.I took probably 500 pictures when we were down there. We went to N.O and Gulfport one day to see the devastation. At one point I was driving with one hand and had my camera in the other. Thinking about going back this next year.
