change the camera body

Hi guys, Help! I have a N50 and find it very user-unfriendly; you cannot use anyother lens other than a Nikon. There are other disadvantages too. Wanted to change the body but would like to continue my Nikon and Sigma lenses. What do you feel about D70? Can it take the Nikon and non-Nikon lenses? If not, what do you suggest? Am going to New York (I live in Berlin) and am hoping for some bargains! Do advise!!
Thanks
Amit

  Hi, Amit.

First, the D70s and D50 are both able to use newer Nikkor lenses or Sigma, Tamron, etc. 3rd party lenses that are modern as well. The difference between the 50 and 70 has to do with build quality, viewfinder brightness, etc - but not what lenses they can use.

The thing is, these bodies cannot use some older Nikkor (or other) lenses that predate some of the electronic communications capability. If you have some old lenses that you want to use, the next step up in the Nikon DSLR line, the D200, should be able to handle them (I use mine with an old PB-4 bellows among other things).

In New York, I heartily recommend that you go to B&H Photo on 9th avenue and 38th street - their store is amazingly complete.
