Opinion on Lenses please

Hi All

I am in the process of researching for a new lens. I want it to cover a large range of focal lengths, so I can use it in wedding photography and not have to change lenses all the time.

The lens I was thinking of purchasing is the:

Canon 28-135mm f3.5 lens
(image stabilizer) $AU 999

I know it isn't an L lens (I just can't aford that at the moment).

But I just saw this lens too:

Sigma AF 28-105 f2.8 lens $AU 363

Does anyone have any experience with this Sigma lens? Or any other lense that is good quality that may go even higher than 105mm. I am just a little confused and don't want to purchase something that is so so.

I already have a 90-300mm Canon lens, 55-90mm and 28-55mm, and fixed 50mm. I know to combine a larger focal range of focal lengths isn't always the best, but I am finding it difficult with weddings to capture everything.

What is your experience with these telephoto zoom lenses???

Any suggestions?

I think I will stick with the Canon.

You know, Natalie, just a thought: why not use two of your lenses simultaneously by getting a second body rather than a zoom lens (I presume the body will be less or equal the price of the $999 lens you mentioned).

This way you can have two lenses live and ready to go, and in case one body fails at least you have the other to continue working.

Just a wild thought, is all.

  Hi there

Yep, I need another body as well (mine is sagging in a few places - oh sorry, we talking about camera bodies!!!).

But I need a good lens first. I am going to get the 28-135mm f3.5 with image stabilizer. At the moment, if I do a wedding, I am borrowing my friends other body (oh and is it hot!) sorry I mean 350D body. But definitely need a good lens, cause the ones I am using are only stock standards that come with the camera.

Anyhow, just a though - if you are shooting with two cameras and obviously will then have maybe 3 or 4 memory cards full of photos taken at various times (ie if you are alternating between cameras) but want the files downloaded to the computer in time order, how do you do that?
