Pre paid mailers

Pre paid mailers from Fuji and Kodak, that are bought from film shop, bh photo and video, etc. Are those sent to the store or place(film shop, bh, etc) where bought and they process. Or sent to a Fuji Lab or Kodak lab to be processed. With the cost of buying a mailer, what is included, processing, shipping, etc. Differences with pre paid mailers from Fuji, Kodak, Agfa that are bought from a company and mailers that are from a specific lab, is what I am trying to ask.

  Royce,
I can't speak about Fuji or Agfa (except Scala 200X mailers), but have used Kodak's. All Kodak mailers go to one of several Qualex labs. Qualex is a wholely owned subsidiary of Kodak. You pay for postage to send it. Qualex pays the postage to return it. In general, this is the postage arrangement for mailers. If you have a "drop box" for Kodak Premium Processing at a discount drugstore near you, it will get the same processing as using the mailer and turnaround is typically faster. The specific Qualex lab it goes to may be closer to you than by mail, as not all of their labs handle processing by mail. Which lab depends on type of film. All labs handle C-41 color negative. B/W negative, E-6 color slide ("Ektachrome" processing), and K-14 color slide (Kodachrome) are only handled by a few labs and it gets routed to them.

Mailers sold by B&H for Agfa Scala 200X (a B/W slide film) go to a specific, independent lab in Florida, one of three licensed by Agfa to handle Scala 200X in the U.S. Someone else will have to fill in their experience with other Agfa mailers, and the Fuji mailers.
