I hate Nikon!

When getting my new D50 I was told to uninstall Nikon view that came with Coolpix. Got a warning about shared files and I said yes, remove to a few, then thought better of it and canceled the uninstall. But it had already removed some dll's
Then none of my photo editing programs could access the pictures.
I finnaly got Nikon view uninstalled (safely) and installed Picture Project. I also Uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop.
But when I open photoshop the images are there in the browser but it won't bring them Up (RAW) Just says disk error.
Because I had a rush job I had to use Picture Project to re-size and TRY to correct some things.
This is the worst photoediting program I've ever used! Just a bunch of auto corrects. You can't select an area. Once the photos are imported into the editing area there are no numbers on them. (When working with headshots, that's difficult.)
Can anyone tell me what's up with this disk error?
I LOVE my D50 Just as I loved my Coolpix 4500 and Coolpix 8700. But I HATE the manuals! HATE HATE HATE! (The 8700 manual says select the image or highlight the image a bunch of times but when you go into the index there is no select or highlight listed!)
Can you tell that I'm sick? I have a raging case of flu and trying to mess with these programs and get a couple of headshots done was a nightmare!
If anyone can shed light on this disk error so I can get back into Photoshop I would be most grateful.
Aloha,

Fax Sinclair

Do you have photoshop's RAW plugin? You might have uninstalled it when you unistalled the rest of the program... or maybe you never had it in the first place. I don't know. Just a thought!

Danielle has a very good question and suggestion there.
Anothr would be to call the NIkon help desk. I have always found them to be very helpful.
My experiance has been, that it is not the company or product, it is usually my computer skills failing me,lol.
So the help desk has made it much easier to walk through these types of problems.
just a thought,

  Aloha Daniele and Debbie,
Thanks for responding. I found out that, yes, it is only the RAW photos that can't be accessed.

I sat on the phone over an hour trying to get through, then used the on-line help. and then safely removed Nikon View.

But now I wish I had it back because Picture project is a bad program. I mean, whats up with not being able to lasoo an area of a photo?
But you are right, I need to get through to the help desk!

Thanks for responding!

Fax, I think Danielle and Debby are right. You would have uninstalled the RAW converter when you uninstalled Photoshop. Here is a link to some of Adobe's downloads. You'll find the download for CS and CS2 here. Hope you have it fixed soon. I know how frustrating software can be!
