Centon K200- Advice on film?

I have just bought a Centon K200 Slr as I am compeletly new to photgraphy, but wanted to try something without a digital camera - basically as they were too expensive for me to purchase outright.
I was not given a booklet, and I tried to load a film, but it did not seem to wind itself on and the counter is not counting at all.
Have I done it wrong?
Or is it something to do with the camera itself?
I really would appreciate your replies.

Thanks
Mandy

On my Canon, there are teeth on the wind bobbin that you have to start your film on to get it to "catch". Once thats started you can usually start the winding. I also had to make sure that my rewind handle was firmly locked down or it wouldnt wind either. Hope that helps some.

  Hi thanks for that
One more thing, is that camera supposed to have an automatic wind on it?
So far it hasnt done when I set the film in it, and also when I came to the end of one reel (playing!) it wouldnt wind back.
The batteries are less than a week old.

Any advice would be great again thanks!
