Taking Pictures in a Nightclub

Tonight we having a graduation party at a nightclub and was wondering what settings to use for taking pictures. My current camera is the new HP R927 I received free as a product tester, but I can't find any helpful info. My previous camera is the Kodak Easyshare and when I took pictures with this one in the club before all of the pictures did not turn out, they had streaks of blurred lights coming down.

This club has a lot of colored lights and a disco lighted ball. What would be the best settings to use for this kind of lighting? Thanks!

  welcome kathy,
go take some test shots before the party.you might have to bump your iso up to 800 or 1600,set it to it's widest aperature,f4 or below.most on camera flashes are junk in those situations.and like you said the streaks.your camera may not be able to set a fast enough shutter speed.
good luck,sam

Thanks for your reply. This is a new camera and the first time using it under these kind of lightings but I ended up using the theater mode on the camera and the pictures turned out surprisingly well!

Thanks again!
