Photography Question

Kerby Pfrangle

Old Red Barn

In my old red barn image in my gallery (my entry today) the smaller image looks like it has streaks through but when you bring it up in my gallery it looks ok.

I do not understand why it does that.

Why would this happen? Kerby

WOW, that is really weird Kerby. No idea what would cause that, but blown up it's awsome. Kathy in NH

Hi there Kerby, the thumb nail comes over very nicely on my computer.

If somebody else sees this -- then the problem could be in the photo
itself.
I had streaks in one of mine when I uploaded it, deleting and resizing fixed it.
Otherwise it may be your computer settings or software. ~Pat

Hi there Kerby, I toon another look on Graham's computer and there is a rolled appearance on the horizontal timber at the front but none on the vertical timber, how strange is that!

So then I went back to my own computer and had a closer look. It is there but very faint. Sorry about this... it looks very interesting though. ~Pat

  Pat

Thank you for checking it out for me again.

I instant messaged a friend and had her look on her computer and it was the same on her computer too.

It is just an odd effect on the smaller image. I Do not know why it would happen.

I see it too, in small mode. However, I think it is merely a sort of "moire" effect, caused by the downsizing needed (on BP) to make the thumbnail edition. I think shots with lots of close lines (ie, like siding) are more prone to this.

I agree with Christopher. I don't think "moire" is technically the right term for this, but it gets the point across.

You'll see this a lot with herringbone fabric patterns, also. When reduced to fit your screen, an image could look like it has wavy distorted lines through the pattern. Enlarged to 100% or printed, though, it looks fine.

Yup! I think it is something akin to "visual vibration" if I remember...
