Photography Question

Photographer needed to shoot my wedding

Hello all! I am looking for a photographer to shoot my wedding next year. We haven't set a date but it will be between March-May. I am having problems finding a descent priced photographer for what I need. I do not have a wedding party, it will be myself, my fiancé, my son, and daughter at the alter and about 32 guests, on the beach in long beach, CA or Palos verdes. I do not need an album. I need you for probably 1 hour at the beach to catch some shots with the sunset and the ceremony then possibly 2 hours of the reception. The lowest quote is 1300 that is too much for this small wedding. The highlight is no hustle with a wedding party, and a large crowd..very easy.. please help. I would do it myself but the obvious says no =) If you are interested in the expereience please let me know, looking forward to hearing from you.

I love hearing situations like this- it reinforces my position of arguing that us serious hobbyists have a place shooting for small or informal weddings, even tho pros tell us we don't. :)

Wish you were in western NY, I'd be all over it with a great low price.

Hope you find someone!!

I'm in aggreement with Denyse. I would shoot your wedding for cheap just because I love photography. It is not my job, although I make money from it.

Just get married at the beach in Columbus Ohio and I'll do it for you (I'll have to photoshop in the beach though.)

Seriously though, is there a local college that teaches photography that you could have a professor post the opportunity?

Check church bulletin boards if your church has one.

Thank you beautiful photography peers! I am so glad I posted here, I just got a light bulb to inquire within my calibur at BP after seeing how much the pros wanted to charge me. Again thank you so much!

Joanna, if you go to the Unoffical BetterPhoto Map™, you can zoom in to wherever Long Beach is (I'm a midwest and east coaster!), maybe you can find a few BP mates and maybe they could help, or refer you! Good luck and congradulations.

Well, I live in the Valley, Joanna - don't know my availability next year but I'm putting myself on the response list in case I would be able to take on the job...

Joanna, I don't live in the valley, I actually live in Arizona but we travel to California for vacation all the time and I'd wouldn't mind traveling. You can go on my website if you want- I don't offer albums in my packages and I'm pretty resonable. Also I can customize packages for an hour or two and we can try and work something out if you still need someone. It's www.momentstotreasure.net.

Thanks Mandy Hank

  Joanna,

I live in the Long Beach area, and I have my own event photo business. I don't do weddings, but a friend of mine, whom I contract quite a bit to do the candid portion of my events, does do weddings. He's a serious hobbyist, just switched over to digital with a great camera, and is really excited to get back into the game. I know he's inexpensive, and although he lives in San Diego, he travels up here all the time. If you're interested, email me. I'll set you up with him and you guys can hammer out all the details.

  Hello Joanna,
I would sure be interested in shooting your wedding. I live about 40 mins from Long Beach and would really like to talk to you about the project. I have been a pro-photographer for almost 7 years, but have been seriously taking pictures for nearly 15. Please contact me ASAP if you have not yet found a photographer.

Thank you for your time,

Lauren

  Well Joanna

Im a pro, and I did a similar wedding here in Sydney Australia (see my gallery). I charged them $500. I have noticed a black hole in the wedding industry and that is the low-medium end market. I am not going to miss out on wedding, just cause they only need me for a few hours. My couple are getting a heap of prints too!

There is a niche market out there for the $500 to $1000 mark for the second weddings and small weddings, and if other wedding photographers aren't going to lap it up, I definitely will!
