Recieving Discussion Notifications Hi all~ Has anyone else been experiencing a lack of discussion notifications? I wasn't sure if it was me...or BP. My settings are all correct, so I don't believe it's me. I've had several comments on a few of my images, and have had to go into the image to see them. No biggie, just wondering what's up. :0)

As far as I know I'm getting all of mine. Just check and make sure that under My Discussions/Q&As in your member page, that everything is set to on. Other than that, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be getting them. Maybe your email program is marking them as spam, so check in your spam folder and see if they are there.

Well if you've checked your spam folder I'm also stumped! If no one chimes in with an awnser, maybe you could try emailing Heather at heather at betterphoto.com

After you uploaded did you go back in and make the first comment or add a second shot? Sometimes if I do those things, I don't get any mail on that thread. Don't know why that occurs, but it often does.

Thanks Carolyn...no, I haven't recieved any notifications on any images or discussions since March 8. I went into my admin. and checked to make sure all discussions were turned on, and nothing is coming in my spam folder. It's very strange. It doesn't sound like anyone else is having trouble, so it must be something with my e-mail. I'll keep digging 'til I find it! Thanks :0)

Casey, that has happened to me too, but only a few, it it seemed that it happened just one day. I thought maybe my PC had a little hiccup. hmmmm. Wish I had an answer for you. :) Megan

I was going to suggest what Carolyn did.. The only time mine acts up is when I upload, then finad a flaw, or decide on a different image.. If I delete my entry for the day, then re-enter.. even if I click the notify box, it DON'T work.. For some reason.. But if you aren't even getting email on this, that is strange...huh..

Casey, Your account might be bouncing with bp. I had that happened to me & I contacted Heather & she fixed the problem. I haven't had anymore issues since then.

Try your junk email box. I noticed some of my betterphoto emails were being filtered to junk

Hi Casey ~ I've had this happen a few times with all the notifications coming over at once ~ sometimes as delayed as the next day ... it's been a few weeks since last hiccup and nothing has gone into the spam folder.. at least when they do come over you have lots to read ~ LOL! This also happens to me when I use the "new" method uploader (the Java uploader not the single image). There is no place to check to receive notifications at the time of upload. I sometimes forget until I go back to look at the pic and find comments. Then I check the box for notification when I write my thank you message.

I have had that problem too Casey. I enter a photo into the contest and then go to look at it and it is not there. I have to click refresh everytime. When I get notified that someone has responded I click on it but vcannt see my response until I refresh. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. I go to a new page and have to refresh, irrritating as hell. Any one know why.

Yeah Pat, I've been seeing that too. Here's my observations. When I enter a photo into the contest, it will show up immediately ONLY if it is the first photo I've entered for that category during the month. Example: I enter a photo under Nature & Landscapes on March 1st, it shows up immediately. When I enter another photo under Nature & Landscapes on March 2nd, the photo does not appear. However, when I go back 20 pages to my original entry on March 1st, my March 2nd photo is often right next to it. Bottom line is, viewing "recent entries" for the contest isn't always the most recent entries. Now, if I were to enter another photo under Flowers on March 3rd, it will show up immediately. This may not always be true, but has been my observation. This may also be why people aren't getting feedback on their "recent entries". The other users aren't seeing them. I typically go though the first few pages every day, but if somebody has a photo they just entered show up 70 pages back, I'll never see it.

This happens even when I read these questions, I have to hit refresh every time. It happens on Betterphoto and Yahoo email, but my better half has an email account on yahoo and it does not bother his.

Spencer I enter one image a day. If you put your image in the day you enter it (not yesterday or two days back)it will show up fresh in the recent entries. All the images are numbered and it depends on when you place them in where they will show up in the recent entries. Just place your entry in fresh each day and you should not have a problem.

Ahh, that makes sense Kerby. I wish the recent entries were actually recent entries....I enjoy looking at what everybody has entered each day, but can't do that if I have to dig hundreds of pages deep.

Hi Casey, It did happened to me too, with a few entries this month actually... I had to go back and check every once in a while. Then, it started to work again on its own, and I found a few more comments that I didn't know about yet... Computer "glitch" I guess...!!! Hope yours will gets fixed soon !

I am not recieving mine either... well apart from yesterday when I recieved loads all from about three days ago? I still havent recieved the finalist emails either - very strange

Hi Casey, After not posting on BP for some time, I started again in early March. I have not received any notifications on photos I've uploaded in the last few weeks. I've been sure to check the discussion box and they aren't coming into my bulk mailbox either. You are not alone! My account is set up with a Yahoo mail address. By chance, is yours? Pat

No, I have mine through Bresnan cable co. I'm not sure what was happening, but it seems to be working fine now. I think with all the traffic this site encounters, maybe the system just gets backed up sometimes. That's all I can figure. :0)

I seem to having the same problem, no emails from bp about photo discusions. I did get an email about my finalist, but I had a winner, and did not recieve an email. Curious if you found a solution to your problem?

Try emailing Jay Wadley (jay at betterphoto.com) and have him check it out. Sometimes your server will bounce the emails back to BP and they will turn you off. It doesn't show in your member center that you're turned off. That's what was wrong with mine last time I had the problem.
