Lens Tips

Just wanting any advice with the Canon EF 50mm 1:1.4 lens. What is the #1 advise you could give when using this lens and how to use it in a "portrait" situation most successfully. Do's and Don't?

Be very very careful shooting wide open. Make sure that your eyes are TACK sharp because they will be the ONLY thing in focus. Stopping down to f/2 & f/2.8 will give you superb sharpness. Basically just be very carefull shooting wide open and pay attention to detail on what you are focusing on. Overall have fun, it's a fantastic lens.

Thank you so much. I did have fun today with this lens. I am very happy with it. Maybe some of my best work today. Any advice on using this lens combined with hot shoe flash. It was very difficult at 1.4f with the flash. I have played with this lens for the past few weeks but without my flash. Today using the flash I kept getting blown out.
