Canon Student of the Year Awards - Australia

Ok all.

The Canon Student of the Year Awards are on late April. I need some advice.

First off:

Is there any photo in my gallery that could possibly be good enough to enter into such a prestigous event?

Am I a little ahead of myself?

Could I possibilly have a shot at it?

I am thinking of entering "A Christening Keepsake", but not sure if it good enough.

It costs $175 to enter, and you get to enter 3 photos. I just want some advice.

I don't want to spend $175 for people to think - why did she enter - she has to be kidding.

Ok, everyone, please give me some honesty, could I enter a "Christening Keepsake" Is it worthy? Technically correct?

Or is there any other photos you think could be entered. I do have another one I would love to enter, but it isn't in my gallery - I better check.

  hey natalie,
not very specific on contest submission it just one category?is there a theme?is the entry fee so high because they will retain the rights to the photo? if canon is the sponsor,do they have to be taken with a canon? what do you get if you win?
never do anything wondering what others will think or say.
christening keepsake is very charming and very sharp, cute opinion won't do you much good,i won't be one of the judges, even though I think it does have a chance to win.
i've seen some winners here at bp and wondered, really?
i couldn't find haven't named many of your photos.
if you have the extra money, why not go for it after reading all the rules.

You have amazing photos. They are all very good and nice to look at, wonderful light and composition.
If I had to pick my three favorites, they would be,
The B&W Child Spiderman (that one is #1 for me. LOVE LOVE IT!)
then the one on the baby girl being held on her tummy (B&W)
The one of the baby feet being held, I think you 2 of baby feet I like the one I mentioned.
Yes it is too bad you do not have titles for your pictures, this would have been allot easier.
"A Christening Keepsake" is amazing enter that one for sure.
Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.

  Hi there

Sorry, didn't write too much, cause it is SOOO long,

This is the link, go to Pro Awards, then go and look at the 2005 winners, once you do that, you will see on the left hand side "Entry Rules and Information for 2006", it is a pdf.

It says the photos can't be similar, I am assuming the 2 photos I want to enter are similar, so maybe I will try and think of a different photo. I have a beautiful wedding photo I shot on Friday I might enter, then a portrait, then a landscape. See how I go. I will label the photos I want to enter and get back to you all. The wedding shot isn't in the gallery yet though, as the bride & groom hasn't seen them yet.

I found Dimples, it is now the last photo in my gallery.

Options for comp I would consider are:

Peow Peow (true - is a good shot)
Christening Keepsake
Blue Pool
Jelly Bean Pool
Plus the wedding shot I did on Frid.

I wouldn't enter the one with the baby on her belly cause it isn't perfect in my eyes, her toe is cut off, and composition could be better. Feet shot - probably not so unique, they are pretty fussy, and probably see these type of shots all the time.
