Light Meters

All, I am required to purchase a light meter for Tafe (further education in Australia).

I don't care to have the best thing in the world, but I need to be able to read ambient, flash and have any other basic features that will make my life easier.

I have found both of these on ebay, I would love some professional thoughts on them.

I have never used a light meter before (only at Tafe) so not sure exactly what to look for.

Which one do you think is better?

Thanks to everyone in advance who responds.

Nat

  Hi Natalie.
The examples you gave are of light meters made by two of the most reputable manufacturers. Good Start.
I use the Sekonic L-358 because of the dual ISO however I do like the Sekonic L308S. Lots of bang for the buck in this new model. Also, just thought I'd mention I have made purchases from the supplier in hong kong your link shows with fantastic results. VERY quick delivery, great packaging and all that.

anyhow,,,that'd be my suggestion.

Thank you so much Gary! It is good to know you know the models and makes and that you also have purchased off them before too. I was leaning towards the Sekonic, I think you have helped me make my mind up.

  Hi Natalie,
I own a Sekonic L-358 which works very nicely, it reads incident, ambient, flash and also has a lumispher. I would definately recommend the Sekonic. I've heard that the Minolta is a better light meter but for the money the sekonic wins. It hasn't failed me yet.
