Photography Question

contests

I was just thumbing through here and noticed that there was a section to discuss other websites. At least I think this section is for that. If not I apologize in advance. Any-hoot, I was just wanting to invite members to check out shutterxtreme.com. They sponsor monthly photo contests with cash prizes. The members of the site choose the winners in all contests as well. We are the new kids on the block and would love to see some new members. We also have an open forum and live chat for all discussions. We talk about other websites all the time. That is how I found this place. Thanks for reading.

I found this statement in their fine print:
All members retain copyrights of their photographic images.

However, by uploading images to our servers, members agree to provide ShutterXtreme.com the right to use, in whole or in part, for promotional purposes only and without financial restitution or advance notice, any and all images posted. Such use includes but is not limited to the web or printed advertising promoting ShutterXtreme.com.

"promotional purposes only" While your trying to scare people lets talk truth. First, it was written in the same size lettering as the rest of the Use Policy and very easy to find. Second, that statement is there for the site to be able to showcase a members work to other members or to promote the website in hope to attract more members. It is posted on the website that we will increase prize money as the membership goes up. So using winning photos for promotional purposes helps attract new member, which in turn raises the prize money. For Example, we have posted a winning photo from a contest last month on the members home page to help get people more interested in the contest. We have put in BOLD print who took the photo and for what contest. We would never post a photo without placing the photographer's name on it. As for prize money, we are going to raise the monthly 1st place prize to $100 when we get there.

Thanks for the comment
Jon
