Telephoto zoom lens for D70s

I want a dedicated Telephoto zoom lens for my new D70s, and am trying to decide between these lenses, Could someone steer me in the right direction. I cant afford a real expensive one right now as I just spent $1400 on the D70s, SB-600, and the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor AF 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX.
So I am sort of broke right now. I do have the Nikon 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Zoom Nikkor that I use on my Nikon F4. I did try it on my D70s and work beautifully, But I am unsure of total compatibility of some functions. Here are the ones I am looking at, I realize they are cheep lenses, maybe they are total crap. Tell me if they are. I know the Nikon G lenses are from all the reviews I’ve read. Except the one I bought with the D70s every one seems to agree it’s a good lens. I am an armature photographer; I just do this for fun. I haven’t taken a whole lot of pictures with my film cameras because of the cost of film and developing, although I could have bought and developed a lot of film with $1400 maybe a couple years worth, at wal-mart prices. So I am hoping this new camera will change all that for me. So far this camera is awesome I just love it. Sorry about my poor writing skills

This lens is 100% compatible with the D70s. No worries, and no reason to replace it. . It is not a D lens - does not communicate focus distance for 3-D metering calculation - but you'll never miss it. All the listed alternatives are a step down. See http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/75300.htm.

Thats what I was concerned about the 3-D metering.
What is this? I tryed to find it in the manual, but no luck yet. I think you are right about going a step down though.

  Hello Chet,

Matrix Metering is Nikon's name for their system.
In it's most basic sense, it simply looks at distance, contrast between (I believe 1006 pixels) and color swings. The metering system makes a "best guess" on exposure. It also will average the scene for white balance.
It is NOT active in manual mode.
I agree with Jon, You won't miss it if you know what you are doing.

The 75-300mm lens you have is fine for most general applications.
The only drawback is the lens speed, but given a limited budget as many of us are, it's fine.
You can and probably will upgrade to a faster lens someday, and your wallet will cry "have mercy on me! LOL
