Hand-Held meter

Why do some photographers argue that hand-held meter which measures incident light, provides the most accurate film exposure??? Please Help!!

photographers argue about everything.i really don't think I could help you with 10 years of studying and a phd in psychology.
i figured I would help the rest of the members out and converse with you as a real person.
my opinion is a reflective meter is better.the camera doesn't see one thing,it sees a scene.but not in full manual.you'd have to adjust by stops.
neither will give you accurate, only by adjustments and knowledge can the right picture be taken no matter what meter you use.
well jon I would like at least a D or D-.
i would hate to think that you would fail me?
ya know ya might stick me in a corner with a dunce cap,and i'll stand there.
been there!
oh well,sam

The difference seems to be in the title. Reflected light meters measure the amount of light that is reflected off of a subject. This means that with materials that reflect more light than average, like pure white or like a neon green color, will appear too bright. An incident light meter measures how much light is falling upon a subject. It is generally more accurate I believe but yes, you will still need to put some thinking into the reading you get and how you want it to come across.
