This is the rose I did the other day for the congrats to the bp finalists.

Copied & pasted layer & then turned down the opacity to about 45%.
Added Bleach bypass at 12% grain, diffused glow, & vp reminiscing filter.
Created another layer & then did a selection & a flood fill at 100% opacity. Deselected & then made a smaller selection just inside the flood filled rectangle. Then hit delete to remove the rest of the color in the middle.
Voila End result! :)

Great idea Tonya. I've been thinking about getting this program and it is nice to see what can be done with it. I've been using Photoshop since its early stages and wanted to branch out a bit more. I hear there are some effects that Paint Shop has that differ from Photoshop. Some people use both to work on the same piece of work so I'd like to give that a try too.

I look forward to seeing everyone's posts.

I have used paint shop pro for about 2 years now and I love it! All of the photographs in my gallery have been edited with Paint shop pro. Does anyone have PSP 10? I was thinking about downloading the trial.

I've used it for several years, and love it more than any other program. Its easy to use, has several tools built in plus lots of free filters work with it. I've never tried PSP10, but heard it was as good as the other versions. But you never know until you try it.

Good idea! I've PSP9, and PS Elements on my desk top, and someone loaded PS CS2 on my laptop, and quite honestly I'm not great at any of them, I've done quite a bit with Elements, but feel my PSP9 is wasted, so I'll watch this thread carefully. Pls post your 'recipes' for us, as is happening on Suzy/Alisha's thread - they're really helpful. I love the frames - how'd you do them? Off to bed, will check in the morning. Thanks

Yeah.. I can see why people would want to us photoshop but it just seems really confusing compared to PSP.

There are a number of different ways to make frames and borders on PSP. But only remember how to do it on PSP 9.

The quick way to make this frame is to open a new blank image, 640x640, fill with white. Then make a selection in the center, go to cut set to 0, 0, 62, 10. Select none. Now add a second layer, put it below the first one and fill with white. Now pick an image to add between the teo layers, resize at 85%. You made need to do this a couple of times, depends on how you want it to look. Once you get the frame made, and you are happy with it, save as a psp file for later use..

For more help, just email me and I'll see what I can do.

When I make frames I just go to the tab that says Add Border and then you can select the colors you want, the width, and alot of other things. You can even save a script for the border that you like so everytime you can select the script and run it and get the perfect border every time!

Thanks Tanya and Isabel - I'm adding this info to my 'recipes' - I need to take a weeks leave to try all the tips i've got. Isabel what is a 'script', is it the 'recipe'? I just find PSP confusing when it comes to Vecot and Rastor, and when I just need to create a 'copy' etc., but I guess I also need to RTFM - the the .... manual:)

The easiest way to make a copy, is to use Shift+D on your keybard..Then save...As for layers, just click the paper icon on the layer palette. Hope this helps.

Pat, thank you for that link! I am just starting to use PSPX, haven't gotten very creative with it yet so I can't wait to learn from anyone that uses it extensively!
