Fuji S9500 digital camera

I am thinking of upgrading to a digital bridge camera such as the Fuji S9500 (UK version)to replace my ageing Canon T70. What would be the best type of memory card and size to buy, I vae been advised that this camera used Xd and compact flash.

Terry, when it comes to memory, the rule is "more is better". A 1GB card will hold twice the shots of a 512MB card - ensuring you won't miss the opportunity to take shots on the last day of your week-long vacaation because you ran out of space (and of course THAT's when the alien spaceship would land on the beach!)

Compact Flash and SD are just two different physically sized formats; both are available in a bunch of sizes (though Compactflash, being larger, has larger maximum capacities if you're ready to spend big bucks). Compactflash can also have higher write speeds, but that only matters if you are in the habit of taking a stream of photos quickly.

As for brands, I would suggest sticking with the name brands - SanDisk, Lexar, etc. Off brand memory (in computers as well) can have identical specifications but still might fail or not work as well.

Thanks Bob, I will obtain a Fuji 512MB XD & CF and experiment. The camera takes both. If I manage to capture the alien I will upload the shot.
