Making a hard decision - appreciate feedback

I would appreciate bouncing your opinions back to me to help make a tough decision.

I need to upgrade to a better camera (SLR) but budgets are limited.

Back in the 70's and 80's I collected a suitcase full of lenses. They are all focal lengths, wide angles, telephotos, and more. They are the original Pentax Asahi / Takumar lenses that at that time were know for their excellent optical qualities. I have been told they are still considered high quality, but that since then coatings have been improved. But the lenses are in pristine condition with not a single smudge or scratch.

Here's the dilemma. I am considering purchasing a Pentax digital SLR body. I have been told they use the same sensor array as the Nikon SLRs, but need further research.

The lenses are all K-mount which will work fine on the body. BUT, they are not KAF which means they do not have the auto exposure/focus contacts. Purchasing the body will mean I will have to do all metering with a handheld meter. I don't mind manual focusing, in fact, I would prefer it.

I'm just wondering if over a period of time, the necessity to meter separately will begin to grow "old", becoming an inconvenience.

For fast-moving subjects, family event pics, etc. I will still have the Fuji S5200. I would be using the Pentax slr mostly for outdoor, scenic, architectural, nature, etc. The pentax will not be used for studio photography.

Once I make the purchase, I'm stuck and committed. I can commit now, or wait to purchase a canon or nikon and new lenses.

All feedback and thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Dan
