Camera stopped working while I was shooting

When I was shooting this morning my Nikon N80 shut down when "EE" appeared in the viewfinder.
Can you tell me what is wrong? The batteries said they were OK.

Cindy, when that happens on my F100 it's because I inadvertantly unlocked and twisted the aperture ring away from the smallest f-atop. Perhaps the same is true on the N80?

Try removing and replacing batteries - I would use fresh ones just to eliminate one extra possibility. Also try setting ISO speed manually and shooting.

Cindy, Bob's answer was true on my F4 and is true on my D100. Drove me stark raving nuts the first time it happened!
