Justin G.		Some instructor. You're paying him to teach you and he makes you teach yourself. Hmmm. In a nutshell. #1. They are indirectly proportional. #2. Generally, a slow shutter speed anywhere from 1/4 to 1/60 of a second. #3. Depends on your focal length and film format your shooting. Generally speaking the larger the aperture (smaller number) the less DOF. There isn't a preferred setting as it correlates with how much you want in focus. Brendan Knell		To your first question, aperature is how big the opening on your lens is, and shutter speed is just that. So unless you change the ISO, then as you increase one, the other generally will have to go down for you to get a properly exposed pic. For example, if you have a large aperature(small number) then you would have to increase the shutter speed and vice versa. To your second question, what do you mean when you say "panning"? Chances are that the settings will mostly depend on the situation, just as there is no magic settings that will work anywhere. To your third question, I really don't get what you mean when you say "shallow deep depth of feild". If you have a shallow DOF, then only the subject will be in focus and not the foreground and background. If you have a deep depth of field then everything(or at least most everything) will be in focus. So you can't have a shallow deep DOF. That's like walk running, you're either walking or running, you can't have both. And again, the settings will mostly depend on the secene. To love this comment, log in above January 29, 2006
