Photography Question

Photoshopped Imaged

Can you see the PS effects in these 2 pix (my other half says the 1st one looks blurred, he can't see its 'spatter' with the centre sharp, and the second pic, I've kept the centre yellow, with the vaguely pink inner petals, then B/W the remainder) Are they bad, or is he dumb?)

Hi Robyn. Sorry to say, but I have to agree with your husband on the blue lily. Enough said about that...but the second pic...OMG!!! What a beautiful shot! Great work!

What would the blue lilly look like if you didn't use the 'spatter?' Was that the filter you used for the edges? What if you could change the hue of the blue instead of the saturation? I think the blue looks great in the center but it starts to look a little unnatural on the petals. I don't know if it's because of the exact color, or the way that it's applied. It's normally white, right?

Hi Andrew, it was pretty much like this image. Yes, its a spatter filter in PS - don't know whether changing the hue would have helped - it would have made it a different colour - maybe a little less saturation. What you think?

The blue really makes that yellow center pop! I always think blues & yellows are a great color combo. However, I don't think the Spatter effect adds anything to that photo. (Maybe partly, because I want to see the petals razor sharp against that dark background?) I'd love to see the original, if you get it uploaded here!

Sorry guys, had to go to bed in the meantime, then up to run a 10km race, back now! Been battling to upload images/responses - lets try again - (btw Chris, tks - I also love the blue/yellow combo). I think if you could open the pic 100% and see the spatter (maybe once its printed) it looks quite cool - but let me try again - also got a pic of what the original colour was.
