Photography Question

Rosalind McClam

Which is lens is comparable to canon

I have just taken the plunge into digital. I have ordered a canon rebel xt with a canon 17-50mm lens. In the future I would like to get a 300 or 400 zoom lens. I know the canon lens are good but pricey. Is there a nother brand that is less pricey but good quality?

I also have the digital rebel xt and I have Canon and Tamaron lenses, and they are both nice. My photo pro shop only carries Canon, Tamaron, and Nikon so I trust their judgement too. They wouldn't carry junk.

The mild telephoto that I have is Canon 75-300. I think it was under $300. I don't know how the Tamarons compare for that length (price & quality) but maybe someone else does...

Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina are all popular alternatives to Canon Brand lenses.

Each of these companies makes lenses for several different camera brands (Canon, Nikon, etc.)

You need to look for lenses that say they are for the Canon EF mount.
