how much to charge?


I have a opportunity to take product pictures for a magazine little things like vitamins etc. What do people charge for this? per picture? or package? it is for 600 items.

  Ok David if you REALLY want an idea of what professionals charge for this kind of work (which isn't necessarily based on the size of the product) and what publication factors enter into this kind of pricing, go to Advertising Photographers of America http://www.apanational.com and find our member pricing survey from 1999, then add about 10 percent and that'll get you into the ballpark.

You also need to consider your costs of doing business including all your overhead, equipment depreciation, profit margin, degree of difficulty to make the shot(s), film, processing, total time before and after the shoot, rights of usage, copyright, future use, etc. Among other things. ;>)
