Photography Question

William

Create Photo CD Slideshow with music

I've had request to produce a Photo CD slideshow with music. I would like to know what is the leading software or free software that is available. Also what is your opinion of this type of request/project?

William, I have done quite a few of these using PROSHOW GOLD 2.5. Vert easy to use
You can burn your projects to DVD, VCD, SVCD, MPG etc.

Good Luck

TJ

Microsoft PhotoStory is very easy to use. I think you can still download it for free from Microsoft's download center.

Thank you, I did download Microsoft PhotoStory. I'm also trying Proshow gold and evaluating the ease of use.

Thanks again to you both.

On a mac I have used iphoto for simple slideshows and was very pleased with the results when burned onto a DVD. I also hear that Mac's DVD studio Pro is good for making portfolio DVDs but these programs only run on mac.

Josh, Thank you for the feedback on DVD Mac studio pro. I don't have a MAC but my church is investigating the purchase of a MAC.

I use proshow gold also, and found it pretty easy to use. The hardest part for me was the music- I had to covert to MP3 files which took me forever to figure out (in a different music program). But otherwise it's just drag & drop for the photo part. You drag over the music. Click a button & the pics sync to the music length. Click another button to change the way the slides transition. Burn. Done! :)

  Denyse L,

Thank you, I downloaded Proshow, but it worked for me the first time, but I changed something and I cannot get it to work. I'm going to call the help line.
Thanks again.

  Hi Denyse,
In proshow, insert the music CD you want to use then select AUDIO, the CREATE FROM CD and proshow will convert it for you....very easy to do.

  Hello TJ,
I'm not sure what changes I made, I cannot get the show to start, so I need to read the help page or call them.

Denyse....good luck, let me know how you make out.

William...I do know of one problem I ran into. After you create a proshow file, you CANNOT change the location or rename your photos.

Oh gaud TJ I learned that one the HARD WAY. I was doing a slide show from a big trip to Europe and I had so many pics and it was confusing. So my bright idea was to drag a few into the show, then go delete them. It was a long time before I figured out my mistake and took hours to go back & redo. haha, won't forget that lesson.

I'll let you know about the music, I'm leaving my office now so I can go home & play. I'll check in later tonight.

Ahhh yes....I too learned the hard way. Similiar situation. I was asked to put somthing together for work last minute. the music they gave me wouldn't convert so I spent HOURS looking online and peer 2 peer networks for the songs. I stumbled upon the audio menu (duh) and volia! conversion complete. So by 400 am I was done! Sometimes learning by mistake is the best way to learn. good luck!

TJ- what version do you have? I'm on 2.0 and I don't see any of the prompts that you mentioned.

HOWEVER while fumbling around trying to find it, I did figure out that if I put a cd and copied them to my computer then add them, they DO get converted to mp3 instead of me having to load them, convert them, then insert in my show. Cool.

Thanks for the link & the comments! There are actually a total of 4 different cats in those pictures!! I have 3 at home and 1 at my office. They're all adopted from shelters, I have no idea what kind they are. :)

I'm off to update, thanks again!
