  Hi Nicole;

OK..Here ya[' go.

I'll comment only on the first four.

1)Needs better focus with the childrens photos.

2) Contrast is poor in the other two.

Those are just technical critiques.

On the plus side, the composition is good.

Pete

  In your bio, you say that you don't yet have the camera you want, but hope to in the next few months. What camera do you want? I know that it's not the camera that's the most important, but a better one can certainly help if you've got the skill! When I switched to a like DSLR from a fully auto P&S, my pictures really improved. So I'm not familiar with your camera, but a better one might help with some of the things Pete mentioned.

  From what I've heard the 20D is a pretty good camera if you don't want to make the jump to the 5D. Also if you don't know yet Nicole, Craig it our resident name changer. We all thought he was gone for about a week or two. What he does is goes around using multiple names, causing problems.

There are few ugly ladies - just varying degrees of beauty.

  Nicole welcome. The photo with the pink hat, did you take it and do the effects. It is a wonderful job of selective coloring. :o)

  hey, Im the only craig around these here parts...lol
Nicole, my fav is "Above it all" ( I think thats what its name was) if only that boat wasnt there and just crop it so the horizon was straighter. Can the S1 shoot in RAW? if so you might want to learn RAW. It makes a huge difference.

  Hi Nicole, I think Graig is right straighten the horizon. But I like the boat in the pictue. So you see everyone is differernt and that is good. Keep shooting. :o)

  A straight horizon would have been great, but, DON'T LOSE THE BOAT. It not only gives the print more depth, but also adds a touch of action. When shooting animals, you may want to back off a bit and crop. A ten foot diameter nost on a two foot long dog is not the most flattering effect for the animal. When I was studying with the New York Institute of Photography, we called this the dognose effect. Relax and have fun. You're doing very well.

  the boat is just distracting to me, must be personal preferance. Perhaps if it were in the center of the scene or going the other direction.. I dont know, all I know is I dont like the darn boat!
lol
Its a great shot though. Maybe if it were a sail boat or something?
