Stitching together a panoramic size image

I haven't done this before, BUT I am in the need to create a panoramic image for my new website my husband is creating. I have some images of landscapes & I want to stitch together some to make a panoramic image. I use Photoshop Elements 2.0 & Photoshop 7.0. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE give me directions on how to stitch together a panoramic image?....THANKS A MILLION!!!

  Hello Alisha,

Unless the photos you wish to stitch were shot in succession and at manual setting, you won't have a lot of luck.
Let us know this first so as to avoid a long explanation that might be useless to you.

Nearly any photo can be stitched, but the process must begin when you shoot the pic.

Pete is correct in his response. Your set of images have to have been initially shot with the INTENT to stitch. If I might expand just a little -
There needs to be an overlay of 20-30% between each image, and each image needs to have been exposed at the EXACT same exposure setting, lens focal length, and focusing point.
Furthermore, to optimize Photoshop's ability to stitch without any tell-tale seams, your tripod and camera, need to be level, and your camera/lens needs to be positioned on your tripod so that your lens' entrance pupil (nodal point) is EXACTLY over the head's rotation point. EXACTLY!! If all this sounds like a lot of work, it is.
I shoot to stitch quite frequently, as stitching several digital files together results in a much larger file, suitable for oversized enlargements. Your need may be somewhat different, being used as a website image, but the need for a quality stitch is still paramount, and the process involved to create a quality pano is the same.
Before PS or any other software can perform a stitching or merging of multiple images, you will need to feed it proper files to help it find common contact points.

I am hoping to go out this weekend & try this. I will keep you posted:)
