Photography Question

Edges not clean

A stock agency rejected one of my photos stating "edges not clean" and "autotraced". Will someone please tell me what that means exactly? Thanks! Darlene

Autotraced sounds like a photoshop filter. Edges not clean, self explanatory.

autotraced sounds to me like either "find edges" or "unsharp mask" too much unsharp mask will obviously give you those white lines around the edges.

Autotraced might be from the filter I applied but I don't understand the "edges not clean". I cropped this image but not by much. What makes the "edges not clean"? What did I do?

Well...how the heck do I upload the picture I'm talking about? I follow the directions on the response page and it just sends me to my account page!

Fence looks a little funny. If it was viewed at 100%, would the edges have the blue abbreation lines around it that comes with bright whites when a lens isn't the best?

That's what I was thinking, Gregory. The whites on the fence look like they're glowing, like when you crank the saturation too high. It looks a little oversharpened, also.

What filter did you apply, Darlene? Maybe you could start again with the original.

Chris

Thanks Kay..I'll do that next time! I DID put a slight "ink outline" filter on the image..that's probably what they're talking about as "autotraced". And I have increased the saturation some. No Gregory...no blue lines...I'm shooting with a Canon 10D with a good Canon lenses so that shouldn't be the problem. I'm just learning what is good stock...and what isn't (the hard way)..and in what pile my images belong...there are several...cards, prints, stock. This particular image (as done) is very lucrative for me as photo gift cards and framed 16x20 prints...however, it stinks as stock! :) Yes, Craig V....I can go back to the original and will try it again...this time without all the bells and whistles! I'm really still trying to figure out in what direction I should be headed. I seem to be all over the map with my photography. I can't really say I have a particular "style". I just shoot all kinds of things and go from there. Shooting is my main "high"! If anyone would like to check out my gallery and give me their opinion on what "might" be my style...I'd sure appreciate it! Thanks to those who have responded! Go BP!!!!!
