Photography Question

Susan L. Vasquez

Flash did not fire, lessons learned.

In October my daughter joined the Navy. This was a big moment in all our lives, since my husband also serves and is about to retire. She was sworn in by the Commanding Officer and the XO, Master Chief and family attended.
Of course I took my camera, but as I have learned you cannot focus on taking the shot and enjoy the moment. Perhaps if you are a professional you can, but for most I suspect this is very unwise.
My flash didn't fire at the most important moment. I was left with an almost black picture of the actual swear in. Over the last two months I've played with this image and this is as good as I can get it. I suppose this will be good enough for a snapshot in my family album, but I have lost a real opportunity to have something very special.
Just wanted to share my experience, here is the shot "fixed" to the best of my ability.

ps. if there are any experts out there that would like to take a crack at this challenge, email me. I still have the original raw file.

  The Swear In
The Swear In
corrected in CS2, to the best of my ability. Flash did not fire, and the shot was almost completely black.
