Download or off disk, you make the destination of where you put it by going into hard drive, open program files, open the adobe folder, and opening the plug-ins folder, and saving it there.

Girish, Gregory is right. You can also unzip the file(s) into the folder of your choice and then, in Windows Explore (I am assuming you are using Windows; if Mac, I don't have a clue), drag the plug-in file and drop it into the plug-ins folder under "Program Files", "Adobe", "Photoshop---."

I have photoshop and that has all default effects and filters that come with it. I want to add any FREE plug_ins from internet. Say; dreamy effects, soft effect, light effect, ..etc.
If you know any that are interesting, please suggest to me.
Thank you very much.

Wow, thanks, just d/l it - and put it in the right place :) Where can I find nice borders? I want that 'brushed out' or informal (not rigid) kind of border/frame?

Another option is: Open Photoshop, Go to your menu tab and choose "Edit", then "Preferences", in the pop open menu, scroll down to "Plug-in & Scratch Disks". Just check mark the box for Additional Plug-ins Directory and click on the "Choose" button to specify where you have the plugins. I just make a Plug-in folder on my c drive and point all my photo programs to it.

Ok Kip, done that - made it my 'preference', but underneath it says First (Start up), Second, Third, Fourth - what is a scratch disk, what does this mean, and where do I now find these plug-ins?

Thanks Craig :) Please have a squizz at some of my BW's that I've put various effects/filters on this weekend - one that I really like "Best of Friends' someone else commented on and said they felt it was blurred - this was the effect I was going for when using the filter - am I totally off the mark? I felt it was quite creative. I know beauty is in the eye.... blah blah, and I know they were just giving their opinion, but is it not a nice effect? I just need to know how misguided I am? Thanks

Robyn, the 'scratch disk' refers to the hard disk that Photoshop uses for temporary files while it's processing your images, applying effects or adjutments etc. For best performance, if you have more than one hard disk or partition, tell Photoshop to use the fastest one first. If you only have one partition it Photoshop will automatically use that of course, so no need to worry about setting it.

Girish.. the Actions need to be put into the Actions part of PS... open PS, open a pic file, under the "window" tab up top, youll see "Actions" click that and the actions window will pop up. then go to the actions window and click the little black arrow, there will be a drop down menu, go to add new actions and click it, it will then ask you where the actions are you want to load.. navagate to the folder you unzipped them to ( imake an actions folder on my desktop to unzip them too) and once done youll see the new action in the actions window.

I am trying these filters and learning by doing.
I like your flood filled and black and whkte ones. You have used flood effect properly. Sepia adds the interest. Smooth texture adds nice effect in black and white. Good use of filters and composition. Nice framing!
I am having fun using these filters.

Craig, is this for the full version of PS? If it is, do you know how to do it in Elements?

Brendan, I've been playing around on Elements, and some of the plug-ins I've d/l don't seem to activate. The 'actions' thing Craig mentioned doesn't seem to be available in Elements - but you can set preferences - see further back in the thread. -Post your results here - it'd be nice to see some :)
