Photography Question

Mike T. Kurlowski

Is my Canon 70-200 f2.8l is light grey?

My new Canon 70-200mm f2.8l seems to not be pure snow white like I have seen in pictures, its rather a white with a drop of grey mixed in. Is this how its supposed to be?

  Hello Mike;

Without more info, all I can do is offer you the conventional wisdom here.

Snow photos require an extra 1 to 2 stops more, as evaluative or "matrix" metering can not properly interpret 100% pure white..They are calibrated for 18% gray..Hope that helps.

  Thanks Pete, but what I was talking about was the actual color of the Lens.

A couple of guys over at www.fredmiranda.com answered my question.

Thanks!
