A thread mount issue for manual SLR

I have a manual SLR, PENTAX SPOTMATIC F, with a Takumar 55mm fixed lens that has a 49mm thread mount. My problem is that I am not able to search for a 49mm thread mount zoom lens that I require badly. Any suggestions.. please someone help me what to do??

Once can understand the need of a zoom lens for certain type of photography....

I'd lay odds Meshank, that you can still find 49mm threaded mounts available for your lenses that will fit your Spotmatic F. You could start by going to http://www.bhphotovideo.com and look there, both in new and used equipment under lens mounts. Also, drop Henry Posner at B & H an e-mail. If B&H doesn't sell them, he might know someone or some firm to put you in touch with that still does. Also, try looking at KEH.com and perhaps sending their sales crew and e-mail telling them what you're looking for.

Also, those mounts are removable I think with several small screws that attach the mount to the rear of the lens. So, if you need a spare, find an old Takumar lens with that threaded mount, buy it (probably cheap), remove it and use it on your zoom.

See if that helps.
Mark

I think your camera uses the Pentax M42 screw mount. They are plentiful on EBAY

And if your concern is use of circular filters, you could always purchase an adapter ring from whatever your new filter thread size is to the old 49er.

Tom is correct. The 49mm mount is just to add a filter to the front of the lens.

You need to look for a zoom lens with a "Pentax M42 screw mount". This is the part of the lens that attaches to the camera.

Good luck.

Chris
