Studio lights for Minolta HTsi Plus

I have 3 cameras that I use on a regular basis. One is a Canon AE-1, one is a Canon T-70 and the other is a Minolta Htsi Plus. The AE-1 has a short in the flash boot / sync-chord plug, the T-70 has no sync-chord plug and there is a slight problem with the lens mount allowing light to enter the film area. Now that I've shared the situation, my question regards the Minolta Htsi Plus. I have been told that the FS-1100 hot shoe adaptor would solve my problem but it doesn't work with this model camera. I am looking for information on how I can hook up my studio lights that use pc / sync-chord to my Htsi. There isn't a sync-chord plug on the camera body and the "theory" of hooking a sync-chord adapter to the flash shoe adaptor didn't work. Can anyone provide me with information on this or a point of contact who I might speak with to get a solution? Thanks in advance!

I know this is an old question. I don't know about the camera that you are useing, but I too have a problem useing a hot shoe adapter. I learned that by reversing the polarity this solves the problem allowing me to use the hot shoe adapter. To explain further, my flash useing a regular two prong plug like a house hold plug. I just turn the plug over.
I hope this helps
Good luck
Joe

  Joe,

I've asked around and checked the Minolta website since I posted that question and found out that in order to use studio lighting with that camera, I have to set the ISO to 1000 or above and set the shutter and aperature to what I'd normally use for the film. This basically "tricks" the camera into thinking that it needs to fire the onboard flash extremely fast. The flash fires just enough to trigger the studio light (slaves) but the onboard flash will not show up on the image since it is way out of sync with the film being used.

I do like the idea of reversing the polarity on the hot shoe adapter though. I have lots of lights that don't have "slave" capability that I was considering selling.

Thanks for the input!
