Photography Question

Craig Paulsen

Big mistake,camera-lens-flash are dead

One of my students killed their equipment this weekend at a wedding. They were shooting at night with a flash hooked up to their belt battery. The camera was on a tripod (time exposure) and it was one of the last shots. They walked away from the camera to get a longer lens and forgot that the cable was connected, pulled at the flash and yanked the whole thing down onto the concrete floor. The focus ring didn't work anymore, the flash shoe craked in half and the cameras shutter was stuck. That was maybe a $3,500 boo-boo. She had a back-up, but what a lesson to learn.

Maybe after the repair work, she ought to consider investing in some radio slaves.
