how do you start a photography project ? I am wanting to do a large photography project eg take photographs of a bay from the water - around a 100 mile contour, how to I go about planning this sort of things eg what questions do I have to ask and to who should I direct them?

First, find out who controls the bay. If this is along an ocean with boating/shipping there is usually a "port authority." Areas may also come under protection from one wildlife authority or another. Some bays, such as San Francisco, have wetlands areas that are very sensitive environmentally to human intrusion, and there are restrictions on what you can do, and/or how you can do it. There may also be privately owned portions, and you need to know who owns what so you are not tresspassing. From that you can determine what restrictions there might be. You may have to do some digging around to find out who to talk to. I suggest you start with someone who has been around the bay for a long time, if nothing, especially someone who owns a business there. -- John

Hmmm, rewrite of last sentence: I suggest you start with someone who has been around the bay for a long time, especially someone who owns a business there. If nothing else, they can lead you to who has authority over what there. -- John
