Prints on canvas

I'm looking for a good on-line print shop that prints photos on canvas. Does anybody have any experience with one? My client is looking for about a 16x20 size. Thanks for your help

Check out www.printedbig.com. I own it. Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to call me or contact me through my contact form on the site. I will respond fast and to your personal email address. I won't be in the office until tomorrow so if you do contact me I won't get back to you until tomorrow morning.

Real quick, we print all our canvases using Epson Ultrachrome Inks, on Epson Premier Art Canvas. It is a water resistant canvas we treat with Premier Art Shield if requested. Our canvases are gallery wrapped on 1.5 inch deep frames. We are a design firm first and foremost and www.printedbig.com is our secondary business. We do a great deal of fine art reproductions and black and white photography work. Our black and white prints are true black and whites, because we use a RIP, special software that uses only the black and grey ink cartridges.

I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

I've done canvas pictures with mpix and loved them. They did a great job.

Andrea, tell me about Mpix canvas. I have heard mixed results about their product. Was it stapled on the side or on the back of the frame and how deep are they? I also heard they mount the canvas to foam board. I order prints from them all the time, especially on their metaillic paper, and love what they do. I never saw any of their canvas products and I'm curious as to how it compares to what we sell.

Thanks,

Chuck

Thanks Chuck (I'll be checking out your site tonight) and Andrea. I looked at Mpix, but didn't see that they did canvas. It sounds nicer tho to be mounted like yours Chuck. Thanks again

i recently had a canvas print made from mpix and wasn't happy with it. I did the mount on matboard instead of stretcher framed. But how they do their canvas is like this: the print the photo, then lay it on canvase and press them together. The canvas texture then shows thru the print. Next time, I will go thru another company and have a giclee made. If you took my canvas print and hang it over the mantel next to a regular mpix e-surface print, you would not be able to tell the difference, IMO. Maybe the stretcher framed canvases are different....i'll save my money and go elsewhere for canvases. But...for regular prints, mpix will still be my first company of choice.

We are programming a coupon code system into printedbig.com right now. Once we get it working I will post a discount code for anyone on this forum to try out our product. We use the same system that most giclee printers use to reproduce fine art. The results are really stunning. I will post the code as soon as it goes live. Everyone who has bought or seen our prints are blown away by the quality. I didn't mean for this to go into a thread about canvas printing, but since it was brought up I wanted to voice my passion about our prints.

Thanks,

Chuck

thanks chuck, when I get a minute i'll check out your site. I'd really like my canvases to look like a painting and not just another textured print!

I did email Chuck, but havent heard back about photos on canvas.
I did get back, 3 11x14 photos from Mpix today and they are AWESOME!!!!!!!
I had them printed on the metallic paper and they are outstanding!!!!! And the best part is they werent rolled up in a tube....they were in a flat box, placed on cardboard in a photo envelope backed by cardboard. Nicely done and great presentation!!!
