  Dee,

I use an Epson 1280. It isn't cheap either. If I remember correctly it is about a 600.00 printer. I am very pleased with the quallity of the printouts and it allows you to use paper rolls which can save you some money.

I Use The Epson 1280 Too Dee Its A Great Printer,I Think You Can Get It For About $400.00 Now.
The Newer Epson R1800?(I Think Thats The Number)Is A Bit More Archival And Uses Separate Ink Cartridges,For A Couple Hundred More...

Not sure if you are referring to the 1280 or not but the 1280's are around 54.00.

The R1800 uses 8 separate inks (well one is a gloss) they are about $13.00 a cartridge.

I Think Its Around $14.24 Per Cartridge (From Epson}And It Uses 8 Instead Of 6 Making It $113.92 For All
But You Wont Use An Even Amount Of Each Color,It Depends On The Color In The Image Dee.. The 1280 Uses One Color Cartridge And One Black For A Total Of $52.15.
If I Were Buying A New Printer It Would Be The R1800 Higher Priced Ink Or Not:-)

Yes, that is for all of them. The black comes seperate and then the colors come in another cartridge which holds all of the other five colors. I looked on line today at either Staples or Office Depot and they were about 54.00.

I use the Epson RX620 & it does a good job also. There are 6 inks in it... black is about 17.00 per cartridge the others are about 14.00 per cartridge. It was around 300.00 but I also got a rebate...

  Dee,

I just got back from CompUSA and the cartridges for the 1280 were 50.00 before tax. It was a package with both the black and the color cartridges in it.
