Canon MP-E65 f/2.8 macro lens Iam thinking of buying a canon mp-e65 macro lens for my EOS 350D digital camera. I have not been able to find any reviews / opions on this lens and was hoping that I may be able to other users opions of this lens or able to be given web site directions to read relevant reviews. I like to research before I buy. I tossing up between the mp-e65 and the ef 100 f/2.8 macro usm thanks for your help

No first hand experience with the MP-E65 myself, but this link should help you decide: http://www.vividlight.com/articles/2914.htm. Also, several user comments at this link. Biggest difference is the EF 100 f/2.8 USM Macro (and similar Macro lenses from Canon, Sigma, Tamron, etc.) can also be used for general purpose. They will focus to infinity and have autofocus. The MP-E65 f/2.8 is a macro-only specialty lens. It will not focus to infinity, is manual focus only, and not hand-holdable. Where a tripod with macro focusing rails is a nice-to-have accessory with the other lenses, it would be required with the MP-E65. A ring/macro flash is also highly recommended since this lens gets much closer to the subject than typical 100mm macro.

Not hand holdable or recommended not hand holdable.

Well, it won't try to stop you from shooting hand-held. ;-) It's just that as a practical matter, it's very hard to maintain focus and not get camera shake when shooting at 1 ft and shorter focus distance.

I was wondering if you were saying there was something about how it was made.
