Light Meters

I require information on the use of light meters. I would like to know how to use my Minolta light meter to calculate the amount of available light and if the possible the formula for calculating the amount of additional amount of light needed for correct exposure

Doug, a light meter normally provides you only with the proper aperture and exposure time to be set on the camera (or combinations of them), as long as the light is within the metering range. If these aperture/exposure time combinations do not fit for your camera, you have to increase the amount of light by artificial light sources, such as a flash, studio lamps, reflective screens, etc. When installed, you have to repeat the measurement and check again. Thus, there is no formula, just try and error.
