Photography Question

Focus lock w/laser pointer.

Has anyone noticed that using a laser pointer on difficult subjects will lock the focus on an auto-focus camera? I have used it on still subjects with the same contrast or textures, and on people when I want to focus on a specific person in a group. I haven't seen any discussion on laser pointers so far and wonder if anyone has advice or has tried it.

That would be cool. I suppose it would work, since it presents an object with a clear edge to focus on.. (If the circle was large enough)

Only problem is, keyring type laser pointers are illegal here (in Aust) Kids were using them to blind drivers. (Amongst other annoying things like shine them in movies and stuff)

One has to be very careful in using a laser pointer around people or animals. Shining the beam into someone's eye can cause serious and irreparable eye injury.
