How to Negociate a Photo Provided for a Book Cover

I have been asked to provide a cover photo by a grad student who is publishing a book through her prestigious university. I am from another country and she has written about an artistic movement in my country that I photo documented for many years. Does anyone know what rights I keep over the photos that she uses in her book - for the book cover and perhaps some others used for illustrations inside the book? Also, how do price negociations work when it comes to situations like this? I have only sold individual prints in the past and as much as possible, I would like to make sure that my lack of experience in this particular business does not put me at a disadvantage. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
